The term Barbenheimer emerged in July 2023 when the movies Barbie and Oppenheimer, with their starkly contrasting themes and aesthetics, premiered on the same day. The whimsical pink world of Barbie juxtaposed against the somber, intense narrative of Oppenheimer became a cultural sensation, inspiring fans to attend back-to-back screenings in themed outfits. Kepler Interactive likened this to the simultaneous release of Expedition 33 and Oblivion Remastered, highlighting the intriguing contrast between the two games.
