In Pokémon GO's Holiday Part 1 branching research, trainers face a choice: aid Spark or Sierra. While official announcements omitted this free research (available December 17th-22nd, 9:59 AM local time), it presents a three-part quest culminating in a crucial decision.

Choosing Your Path: Spark or Sierra?

The core difference lies in the Pokémon types and reward encounters. The choice isn't drastically impactful, but it significantly influences your focus.

Spark's Ice-Type Challenge:

Opting for Spark directs your efforts towards Ice-type Pokémon. Completing Part 2 rewards an Alolan Vulpix encounter.

Spark - Part 2:

Sierra's Fire-Type Pursuit:

Choosing Sierra shifts the focus to Fire-type Pokémon, culminating in a Shadow Vulpix encounter in Part 2.

Note that Part 3 rewards (including the Sandygast encounter) remain consistent regardless of your choice. Your decision hinges on your preferred Vulpix variant and the Pokémon type you wish to prioritize during the Holiday Part 1 event.
