Captain America: Brave New World Is One of the Shortest Marvel Cinematic Universe Films

Feb 12,25

Captain America: Brave New World, clocking in at a concise 1 hour and 58 minutes, claims the title of shortest Captain America film and one of the shortest MCU films in history. This runtime, revealed by AMC Theatres, places it among the select few MCU entries under two hours, ranking seventh shortest out of 35 films. This contrasts sharply with the previous three Captain America films, all exceeding two hours.

While most shorter MCU films hail from Phases 1 and 2, several recent exceptions exist. The shortest, The Marvels (2022), runs 1 hour and 45 minutes, followed by The Incredible Hulk, Thor: The Dark World, Thor, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man.

Brave New World shares its runtime with Ant-Man and The Wasp. In contrast, the longest MCU film, Avengers: Endgame, stretches to three hours and one minute, followed by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Eternals, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Despite its imminent February 14th release, Brave New World reportedly underwent extensive rewrites and reshoots, including scenes featuring WWE star Seth Rollins. The impact of these revisions on the final runtime remains unclear.

This film marks the first Captain America adventure following Chris Evans' Steve Rogers' retirement, starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson. Mackie promises a continuation of the series' grounded, espionage-driven narrative.

The film is also poised to introduce several lesser-known Marvel characters, including a payoff to a tease from The Incredible Hulk, with the introduction of The Leader and Red Hulk.
