Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World has exceeded expectations with a projected $100 million domestic box office opening over the Presidents Day weekend. Comscore estimates the film earned $88.5 million from 4,105 theaters over the three-day weekend, projecting a four-day total of $100 million. Adding its strong international performance of $92.4 million, the global weekend total sits at an estimated $192.4 million.

While boasting a $180 million production budget and a break-even point of approximately $425 million globally, Captain America: Brave New World has secured the fourth-best Presidents Day opening ever, trailing only fellow superhero films Black Panther ($242 million), Deadpool ($152 million), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million).

This impressive debut comes despite mixed critical reception; IGN awarded the film a 5/10, stating that it "feels neither brave, nor all that new." The film's performance will be closely watched to determine if it can reverse a recent downturn in MCU box office success (excluding last year's Deadpool & Wolverine), setting a positive trajectory for upcoming releases like Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
