Capcom has subtly teased Resident Evil 9 in a recent celebratory video.

To mark the impressive milestone of 10 million players for Resident Evil 4, the development team released a short video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong in a hushed conversation with a notorious villain, followed by a scene where Leon is surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats as they approach a church.

The video then transitions to a rock song, with Dr. Salvador humorously playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar. The camera then pans to show Leon fist-pumping in front of a rustic sign that reads "Thank you for playing."

However, when the sign is turned on its side, the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," which represents the number 9. While this could be a mere coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that the lower plank of the sign, which forms the "IX," was not present in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was added intentionally.

"I know what you did here," said one surprised viewer, adding a wide-eyed emoji.

"It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." It's speculated, though not confirmed, that the game will be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
