Blizzard Announces Six New Warcraft Conventions
Blizzard's Warcraft 30th Anniversary World Tour: A Global Celebration
Blizzard Entertainment is commemorating three decades of Warcraft with a global tour featuring six conventions across the world from February to May. These events promise live entertainment, exclusive activities, and opportunities to connect with Warcraft developers.
Following Blizzard's decision to forgo BlizzCon in 2024 in favor of alternative events like Gamescom and the inaugural Warcraft Direct, the World Tour marks a significant shift in their engagement strategy. The tour celebrates key franchise milestones, including World of Warcraft's 20th anniversary, Hearthstone's 10th, and Warcraft Rumble's first.
The six-city tour kicks off in London on February 22nd, progressing to Seoul, Toronto, Sydney, Sao Paulo, and culminating in Boston during PAX East on May 10th.
Warcraft 30th Anniversary World Tour Dates:
- February 22 – London, United Kingdom
- March 8 – Seoul, South Korea
- March 15 – Toronto, Canada
- April 3 – Sydney, Australia
- April 19 – Sao Paulo, Brazil
- May 10 – Boston, United States (during PAX East)
While details remain scarce, the events are anticipated to prioritize fan interaction and immersive experiences rather than major announcements. Expect live performances, unique activities, and developer meetups.
Ticket acquisition will differ from traditional conventions. Blizzard describes these as "intimate gatherings" with free, extremely limited tickets distributed via regional Warcraft channels. Fans are encouraged to monitor their regional channels for further information on ticket availability.
The future of BlizzCon remains uncertain. A potential late summer/early autumn BlizzCon could serve as a platform to showcase the upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion, including the highly anticipated player housing feature. However, Blizzard's silence regarding future BlizzCons leaves open the possibility of a biennial convention schedule. Regardless, securing a spot at the Warcraft World Tour promises a unique and memorable celebration of the Warcraft legacy.
