"Avowed Targets 60FPS on Xbox Series X"

Apr 13,25

Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated role-playing game, Avowed, promises smooth gameplay on the Xbox Series X, with the capability to reach up to 60 frames per second (fps). Game director Carrie Patel shared this tidbit with MinnMax, confirming that while the Xbox Series X can achieve this higher frame rate, the Xbox Series S will remain capped at 30fps, as previously announced.

It's still uncertain whether Avowed will feature the now-standard performance and graphics modes, where performance mode typically offers 60fps at the cost of lower visual quality, and graphics mode prioritizes visuals at a steady 30fps. Whether the Xbox Series X's 60fps is a default setting or part of a selectable mode remains to be seen.

Set to launch on February 13, Avowed comes with a premium price tag of $89.99. However, for those opting for the standard $69.99 edition, Microsoft has scheduled a slightly later release on February 18. This pricing strategy, though increasingly common among publishers, has been abandoned by some, like Ubisoft.

Set within the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG that places a significant emphasis on player choice. The narrative is rich with themes of war, mystery, and intrigue, allowing players to explore the expansive world and form alliances or enmities with various characters.

Avowed has already garnered positive feedback, with IGN's Final Preview commending its nuanced dialogue, player freedom, and overall enjoyable experience, stating that "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
