"Amazon's God of War Series Greenlit for Season 2 Pre-Release"
Amazon's much-anticipated God of War TV series is already generating buzz, with the show greenlit for two seasons before its premiere. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore, known for his work on Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica, has taken the helm after the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff, another Battlestar Galactica alum, Moore discussed his involvement with the series.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, which is a big title in the gaming world," Moore shared. "Amazon has ordered two seasons, and they've asked me to come in. So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a gamer himself, Moore has dipped his toes into classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern game controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
For the God of War series, Moore is not only the showrunner but also serves as a writer and executive producer. His extensive experience includes notable work on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, and he was the showrunner for the acclaimed 2000s Battlestar Galactica reboot.
While some members of the original team have moved on, Sony's Cory Barlog remains an executive producer, ensuring continuity with the game's vision. The series will be based on the critically acclaimed 2018 God of War game.
Amazon's confidence in video game adaptations is evident with the swift renewals of series like Fallout and Secret Level following their successful launches. This trend suggests a promising future for God of War on the streaming platform.
