Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series
It's as if they couldn't resist bringing back Alicia Silverstone in her iconic yellow and plaid outfit. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in an exciting new Clueless sequel series, which is in development at Peacock.
While plot details are still under wraps, we do know that Silverstone will star, and the series will continue the story from the original 1995 film. This project differs from Peacock's previously announced Clueless spin-off in 2020, promising a fresh take on the beloved franchise.
The creative team behind the series includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original Gossip Girl and its reboot, who will write and executive produce alongside Jordan Weiss. They will be joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board as producers.
This isn't the first time Clueless has been adapted for the small screen. Following the film's success, a television series aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard taking on the role of Cher.
Silverstone recently revisited her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, showcasing her eagerness to step back into Cher's fashionable world. It's clear she's ready to dive back into that iconic closet, and fans couldn't be more thrilled.
