HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 continues to grow its cast with six new additions ahead of its April premiere.

Variety has revealed how the live-action adaptation will expand on the original game's storyline. The newly announced actors are Joe Pantoliano (known for Memento and The Matrix), Alanna Ubach (from Euphoria and Bombshell), Ben Ahlers (star of The Gilded Age and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Hettienne Park (featured in Don’t Look Up), Robert John Burke (from RoboCop 3), and Noah Lamanna (of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds).

These last-minute additions to the retelling of The Last of Us Part II include both characters from the original games and some new faces. Pantoliano, for instance, will play Eugene—a character some may remember as Ellie and Dina's cannabis-friendly acquaintance. While Eugene originally appeared only briefly in the video game sequel, he'll receive more screen time in Season 2.

Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann explained to Variety that, similar to Bill's expanded role in Season 1, Eugene's backstory will be further developed in the new season.

"I find these opportunities thrilling," Druckmann commented. "Eugene is a character I didn't know deeply. The game presented a fairly surface-level story, but this version really explores the core of Joel and Ellie's relationship."

Burke has been cast as Seth, the bar owner from The Last of Us Part II known for his prejudiced remarks and signature "bigot sandwich" scene. Lamanna will portray Kat, reportedly one of Ellie's past romantic interests before the events of Part II. Meanwhile, Ubach, Ahlers, and Park will introduce new characters named Hanrahan, Burton, and Elise Park, respectively.

These new cast members join the previously announced ensemble, which includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Isabela Merced as Dina, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy. The showrunners have indicated that the events of Part II will unfold across multiple seasons, so audiences can anticipate more reveals as the episodes premiere.

The Last of Us Season 2 brings the storyline of The Last of Us Part II to life starting April 13.
