Amidst the launch of Reburn—a new studio established by former members of 4A Games Ukraine, the creators behind the acclaimed Metro series—the original 4A Games has reassured its fanbase about its dedication to furthering the Metro franchise. This statement followed closely on the heels of Reburn's announcement of their debut project, La Quimera, sparking questions regarding the future direction of Metro.

"We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games," the statement affirmed. "Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception."

In addition to the forthcoming Metro sequel, 4A Games hinted at the development of a new intellectual property (IP), though they kept the details under wraps. The studio expressed pride in their Ukrainian roots and their diverse team, noting that most of their staff—approximately 150 out of over 200 members—continue to be based in Kyiv, with additional operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote setups.

Regarding the organizational split, 4A Games provided clarity:

"Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn."

Since the release of Metro Exodus in early 2019, the series has seen a surge in fan interest, despite limited updates. While spin-offs and enhancements such as the Enhanced Edition have kept fans engaged, many are eagerly anticipating the next installment in Dmitry Glukhovsky's dystopian saga. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), the studio teased a new Metro title in 2019, setting a tentative "202X" release window before going silent. Now, it appears that the wait might finally be nearing its end.
