Polish developer 11 Bit Studios has released a new trailer for their upcoming sci-fi adventure, The Alters, highlighting its connection to their critically acclaimed wartime survival game, This War of Mine. The new trailer reflects on the studio's journey, showcasing the evolution from the bleak atmosphere of This War of Mine to the more vibrant and humorous narrative of The Alters.

While vastly different in tone and setting, both games share a core theme: survival. This War of Mine, known for its stark depiction of war's harsh realities, sees players struggling to survive in a besieged city, managing resources and facing daily challenges to keep their group alive. The Alters, conversely, presents survival as a frantic race against a relentless sun that turns everything to dust, forcing players to constantly relocate their mobile base.

Despite these differences, both games challenge players to navigate hostile environments and scavenge for scarce resources. However, the protagonists differ significantly. In This War of Mine, players guide a group of ordinary civilians, while The Alters features a unique team of alternate versions of the main character, Jan Dolski, leading to a more personal and character-driven experience.

The Alters is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass on launch day.
